Inter-regional Debriefing Meeting on the Regional Operation Container Programme Chemical Check – I was successfully conducted at the ROCB Europe premises on 21-22 November 2017.
The meeting which is focused on the operation aimed at preventing illicit trafficking of chemicals and substances was held in the frame of United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) - World Customs Organization (WCO) Global Container Control Programme.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Aydin Aliyev made the opening speech at the meeting. Representatives from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as from UNODC and ROCB Europe attended the debriefing.
Participants evaluated the results of practical implementation of the operation carried out within the context of the regional programme and shared opinions and best practices with respect to illicit trafficking of chemicals and substances in the region through panel sessions and open discussions. The importance of regional cooperation and positive outcomes of the operation were also emphasized.
Container Control Programme is a joint initiative of UNODC and WCO launched in 2004 directed at providing effective container selections and controls for preventing drug trafficking and other illicit cross-border activities.
