The World Customs Organization (WCO), with the support of a WCO-accredited expert trainer from Germany, has successfully completed a Customs Valuation workshop for the benefit of the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova.
The WCO National Training Workshop on Customs Valuation was held virtually from 14 to 18 March 2022 with the participation of 29 Customs officers from different units within the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova. The five-day virtual Workshop was organized by the WCO, with the support of the Customs Cooperation Fund of Germany and technical support by the Regional Office for Capacity Building for the World Customs Organization Europe Region (ROCB Europe).
In her opening remarks, the Head of the Customs Valuation Unit of the Moldova Customs Service, Ms. Maria Birca, welcomed participants and expressed her hope that the Workshop would further enhance their knowledge and understanding of the principles of the World Trade Organization Customs Valuation Agreement.
During Workshop, participants delved deeper into different aspects of Customs valuation including the practical application of the transaction value method along with the related adjustments and the alternative valuation methods. The Workshop also comprised an introduction to the tools and instruments developed as part of the WCO Revenue Package. In addition, participants were given an opportunity to examine and discuss practical case studies and specific valuation issues encountered in their daily work.
