In order to participate to the ceremony for 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Customs Service, at the invitation of the Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Safar Mehdiyev, the WCO Secretary General, Dr. Kunio Mikuriya payed a visit to Baku, Azerbaijan from 28 to 30 January 2022.

In accordance with the program of the visit, Mr. Mikuriya visited the Regional Office for Capacity Building for the World Customs Organization Europe Region (ROCB Europe) on 29 January 2022. A meeting was held with the participation of the WCO Secretary General, representatives of the SCC of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the ROCB Europe.

During the meeting, Mr. Eser Chengel, Director of the ROCB Europe, welcomed the WCO Secretary General and gave preliminary information about the strategy and directions of ROCB Europe. Then the Executive Officer of the ROCB Europe, Mr. Mirhasan Seyidzade, made a detailed presentation on the activities and ongoing work and updates by the ROCB Europe.

After the presentation, Kunio Mikuriya thanked for the warm welcome, praised the work of the ROCB Europe as an important structure in the customs community, and noted the importance of the institutional development of ROCB Europe.

After the meeting, Secretary General became acquainted with the technical capabilities and infrastructure of the ROCB Europe.
