On the realization of activities with cooperation of the World Customs Organization – WCO
On the 5th of October, 2007 the Faculty of Economics from Skopje signed a Memorandum of understanding with the WCO in Brussels, Belgium. Both sides recognized the need of an establishment of a regional training center for customs officers and the business community within the region of CEFTA-2006.
The Government of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia officially supported the idea for the creation of the above mentioned training center on the 14th of December, 2007, promising to support it providing a budget for its activities.
The WCO answered the request of the Faculty of Economics and the Customs office of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to provide its experts for the organization of two seminars in the period 2007/2008.
The first seminar was organized on the 16th of November 2007 in organization of the WCO, the Faculty of Economics, the Customs Office of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the Economic Chamber of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia with over a 100 participants. The seminars title was: Diagonal cumulation of origin of goods under the CEFTA 2006 agreement.
At the end of April 2008 the Faculty of Economics established the CUSTOMS OFFICERS TRAINING CENTRE – CEFTA – 2006.
On the 14th and the 15th of May 2008 the WCO, the Faculty of Economics in Skopje and the Customs Office of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia organized theWCO Regional Conference on SAFE and challenges for the Region. The participants on the conference were customs officers and representatives from the business community from the whole region CEFTA 2006.
15-17 October 2009 the Faculty of Economics Skopje and Customs Administration will hold a third International Conference on Regional Cooperation and Economic Integration.
