The Regional Office for Capacity Building for the World Customs Organization Europe Region (ROCB Europe) cooperates with a number of international and regional organizations, including the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC) which is based in Almaty, Kazakhstan as part of its institutional development activities, as well as in the preparation and holding of regional events in which it organizes and participates.
In recent times, several international seminars, trainings and meetings were held online with the participation of experts from the CARICC with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to further develop the already established working relationship between the ROCB Europe and CARICC and get acquainted with the technical and infrastructural capabilities of the ROCB Europe, a delegation from the CARICC, headed by Director of CARICC Major General Mr. Mirolizoda Rustam AZIZ, visited the ROCB Europe premises on November 28, 2021 upon the invitation of Mr. Eser ÇENGEL, Director of the ROCB Europe.
During the visit, a meeting was held between the ROCB Europe and CARICC delegations, both organizations briefed on their activities and explored the ways for further collaboration.
In the presentation made by the Executive Officer of ROCB Europe, Mr. Mirhasan Seyidzade, detailed information was given about the strategic framework and infrastructure opportunities of the ROCB Europe. Information was provided on the regional events held, the working principle of the platforms (such as e-Training and Analytics) on web site of ROCB Europe using the opportunities of information technology presented for Member Administrations and other stakeholders. It was also stated that the Cargo and Container Training Center is located at the ROCB Europe premises and intended for providing training for front-line customs officers on cargo and container control matters both theoretically and practically.
After the exchange of views on long-term plans for deepening future cooperation between the ROCB Europe and CARICC, a bilateral protocol reflecting the prospects for strengthening cooperation was signed. The meeting ended with the awarding of Executive Officer of the ROCB Europe, Mr. Haji HAJIYEV with a commemorative medal by CARICC for the development of international cooperation between these organizations.
