In the period from June 24 to 28, 2019 WCO Regional Training Center in Nur-Sultan city held sub regional workshop on “Challenging Issues of Determining Customs Valuation and Goods Classifications ” with the support of the World Customs Organization and the USAID CTJ in Central Asia.
The relevance of the workshop is due to the fact that the issues of l customs valuation control and goods classification affect the completeness of the customs duties and taxes collection, the application of measures of tariff and non-tariff regulation, as well as the formation of statistical data on the declared goods.
At the opening of the workshop, the Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee MF RK Mr.Omirzak Beyspekov made a welcoming speech and noted the importance and relevance of the issues under consideration for international trade, uniform standardization of the classification of goods and the impact on the formation of customs tariffs and trade statistics.
World Customs Organization experts, Mr. Luo Jiabin and Ms. Lin Hong, were invited to facilitate the abovementioned workshop.
Representatives of the customs services of Central Asia countries (Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan) and the EAEU (Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia), employees of the Central Office of the SRC and the territorial divisions of the state revenue bodies were invited as participants.
During the workshop, issues on the application of tools of the Harmonized System, regulatory standards in the HS Convention, tariff classification, key principles of the WTO Agreements, customs valuation methods, Revenue Package and its tools were discussed.
