On December 2, ROCB Europe in close cooperation with the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a seminar on "Raising the awareness of Customs Officers in the field of fight against the smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, as well as counterfeit Pharmaceuticals."

At the opening, the head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ceyhun Mammdov, spoke about the illegal trafficking and problems created by narcotics and psychotropics and emphasized the importance of raising awareness in this field.

The head of the Academy of State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Gulu Novruzov, touched on the measures implemented by Azerbaijan Customs Services in the field of combating this human scourge and emphasized that the educational institution he leads also intends to contribute to the work of raising awareness.

Executive officer of the ROCB Europe, Mr. Haji Hajiyev, also spoke about the importance of the seminar and stated that the seminar will provide a platform for the exchange of information and best practices which will lead to enhanced efficiency of customs administration in the field of fight against the smuggling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.

Later, the seminar continued with presentations on "Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances: the global challenge of the modern world", "Problems caused by psychotropic drugs in the modern era", "Counterfeit drugs and the fight against their spread". Within the framework of the seminar, the customs officers received new information about the "2019-2024 State Program on Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Their Precursors and Combating Drug Addiction", as well as the challenges and danger posed by narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, precursors, and counterfeit drugs.

Later, opinions were exchanged about the presented presentations, and the questions of the participants were answered in detail.
