Short course titled “International trade transactions and documentation” was held at the World Customs Organization’s Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB) for the Europe Region in Baku on January 26-28, 2017
The workshop organized by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the International Network of Customs Universities was attended by the students of the Academy of the State Customs Committee, Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Economic University and Baku Higher Oil School, North-West Institute in St. Petersburgh of the Russia Federation, representative of GEFCO Logistics company in Russian Federation.
Head of the WCO Regional Office Roger Hermann gave brief information about the office’s activity and stressed the importance of the course.
Addressing the workshop, first deputy chairman of the State Customs Committee, customs service Lieutenant-General Safar Mehdiyev welcomed the participants and said it was praiseworthy that the event coincided with the International Customs Day. Safar Mehdiyev said successful cooperation between the International Network of Customs Universities and State Customs Committee was being continued successfully, the fact that the event organized by Baku regional office of the network brought together leading educational institutions of Azerbaijan would contribute to capacity building in the field of customs system.
Secretary of the Network of Customs Universities Mikhail Kashubsky welcomed the participants and gave information about the organization. Speaking about the importance of the workshop Mikhail Kashubsky expressed his confidence that the project would be continued in the future on a regular basis.
This course is delivered by the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES), which is the world’s leading provider of training and education in the highly specialised areas of customs, excise and border management.
Topics on “Risks in international trade deals” and “Reviewing documents in international trade deals” were delivered on the first day of the workshop, students of the North-West University on Management of the Russian Federation presented e-magazine “Student Customs News”.
Topics covered in this course included ‘Risks in International Trade Transactions’, ‘Role of Freight Forwarder and Estimation’, ‘International Contracts of Sale’, ‘International Commercial Terms – INCOTERMS 2000’, ‘INCOTERMS 2010’, ‘Carriage of Goods by Sea’, and ‘Carriage of Goods by Air and Multimodal Transport’.
