The WCO held a Risk Management Workshop for the Customs Administration of Serbia (CAS) funded by Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) from 9th to 13th May, 2022. The activity was delivered under the auspices of the Mercator Programme within the framework of the SECO-WCO Global Trade Facilitation Programme.
The workshop focused on building the capacities of CAS to coordinate efforts of the different organizational units to increase its effectiveness on developing and implementing an all-encompassing Risk Management Framework, establishing a Risk Management Committee and enhancing its risk register.
With a view to supporting the CAS in strengthening its internal strategy on this topic, the WCO experts analyzed the current working principles and issued recommendations for enhancing the strategic documents in alignment with the international standards. These milestones will allow the CAS to enhance its inspection effectiveness rate, increase transparency and facilitate trade overall.
This week-long activity was an opportunity for the CAS officials to build their capacities to successfully implement relevant WCO tools and instruments, as well as to become aware of both their strengths and areas of opportunities. Furthermore, the main outcome of this workshop consisted of a roadmap to enhance CAS’s Risk Management practices.
