On May 2, The Regional Office for Capacity Building for the World Customs Organization Europe Region, in close cooperation with World Customs Organization (WCO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC), Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC) and “Karmasis” Company, organized a webinar on "Ensuring Border Security through Advanced Information and Cyber Security Measures".

The webinar, attended by 137 representatives of Customs Administrations of 22 countries represented in the WCO Europe Region with bringing together experts and representatives from various countries and organizations.

During the webinar, several distinguished speakers addressed the audience on the significance of border security and its crucial role in national security. Mr. Natig Shirinov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Taeil Kang, the Director of the Directorate of Capacity Building of WCO, and Mr. Mirhasan Seyidzade, the Acting Director of the ROCB Europe, all emphasized border security is an essential component of national security and is vital for protecting a country's sovereignty. Over the years, border security has become increasingly complex due to advancements in technology and globalization. One of the most effective ways to ensure border security is through advanced information and cyber security measures.

Furthermore, the speakers highlighted the importance of leveraging advanced technologies and cyber security measures to address the challenges associated with border security effectively. The event underscored the need to expand the application of these advanced measures to safeguard national borders and combat evolving security threats. During the webinar that intended to expand general cooperation, to draw attention to existing and potential problems in the region and to unite efforts in the field of advanced information and cyber security measures, as well as to discuss the latest achievements, best practices, challenges and future developments in advanced information and cyber security measures.

To enrich the discussion, representatives from esteemed organizations made presentations on their achievements and advanced practices in the realm of cyber security and advanced information. The World Customs Organization, the Central Asia Regional Information and Communication Center (CARICC), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC), and the office of Karmasis in Azerbaijan provided valuable insights into their respective organizations' contributions in this domain.
