In a landmark virtual meeting, ROCB Europe convened with Mr. Øystein Børmer, the esteemed Vice Chair of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Europe Region. This pivotal gathering aimed to discuss the myriad challenges and opportunities facing ROCB Europe, setting the stage for a year of innovation and collaboration.

The meeting kicked off with insightful introductions from Mr. Børmer and ROCB Europe's Director, Mr. Lo Parco, setting a collaborative tone and emphasizing the shared vision of ROCB Europe and the WCO Europe Region for a more integrated, efficient, and collaborative customs environment.

A significant portion of the dialogue was dedicated to examining the financial landscape of ROCB, underscoring the importance of fiscal sustainability in achieving long-term goals. The planned activities for 2024 were discussed in detail, highlighting the proactive steps ROCB Europe is taking to fulfill its mandate. Both Mr. Børmer and Mr. Lo Parco contributed to the reporting segment and an in-depth discussion on ROCB's current internal workings, with an eye towards strategic enhancements, offering insights into the progress and achievements of ROCB Europe.

Highlights included the commitment to strategic planning, financial sustainability, and increased representation in WCO forums, ensuring ROCB Europe's pivotal role in shaping the future of customs operations in the region. The dialogue not only underscored the ongoing challenges faced by ROCB Europe but also illuminated the vast opportunities for the Office to enhance its support for the region's customs authorities.

In the 19th session of the Global Meeting of Regional Entities, initiated by members of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Council Vice-Chairs' Offices, discussions were held once more with the Vice Chair of the WCO Europe Region. The conversation revisited previously mentioned concerns, with a particular emphasis on enhancing collaboration and planning shared training initiatives.
