A training on "Strategic Trade and Export Control" was held on May 23-27, 2022 at the ROCB Europe which was organized within the framework of the " Global Container Control Program", a joint project of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the World Customs Organization for Azerbaijan Customs.

First Deputy head of the General Department of Intelligence and Investigation of the State Customs Committee, Major General of the Customs Service Guloglan Muradli spoke about the achievements in the fight against smuggling in Azerbaijan in recent years and the "Global Container Transport Control Program". Touching upon the importance of the training, Mr. Guloglan Muradli stressed the importance of deepening the knowledge of each customs officer to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction. It was noted that the country has a legal framework to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, and in this regard, the customs authorities are properly fulfilling their obligations.

Project Manager Naida Jamilova expressed hope that the training on "Strategic Trade and Export Control" will be useful and productive for the participants. Trainers Oksana Nasarcuk and Adam Baceller provided information on the topics to be discussed and shared their experiences during the five-day training, sharing a variety of useful information for participants to gain new knowledge and skills.

The training featured various presentations on industrial, chemical, biological and electronics, as well as radioactive and nuclear equipment. The presentations provided information on control mechanisms for the export and trade of these equipment.

During the interactive training, participants were distributed materials, asked various questions and written scripts, and then exchanged views on these topics. The principles of control, further strengthening of control over the weapons of mass destruction in the customs authorities, risk indicators, sanctions, chemicals and harmful substances, searches of various websites during trade operations and access to information were discussed.

For closing remarks Mr. Mirhasan Seyidzade, executive officer at ROCB Europe, expressed with satisfaction importance of hosting offline trainings which this, in turn, plays an important role in the effective exchange of experience, as well as in further strengthening cooperation. It is noted that ROCB Europe regularly hosts trainings on the CCP Program that aimed at controlling container movement and preventing drug trafficking are being successfully implemented on the basis of information exchange between the customs services of different countries.

During the 5-day training, the participants were taught theoretical and practical knowledge by experts and their questions were answered.

At the end of the training, participants were provided with a certificate.
